Over the school holiday break, some children might not be spending as much time reading as they need to, but there are exceptions.

CBS46 met with a Gainesville girl who has read more than 1,000 books all by the age of 4.

She is not letting the break slow her down either.

Daliyah Marie Arana was not even old enough to be in school when she first sat at a table to read. Her mother taught her to read at the age of 2.

Now the preschooler can read her favorite college level poem, The Pleasure of Books.

When Georgia announced the program, "1000 Books Before Kindergarten," Daliyah not only was up for the challenge but completed it before preschool even began.

“I read 1,000 books by the time I was 3-years-old and I hope to read 100,000,” she said.

Daliyah’s next challenge is to learn to read in Spanish.

In January the tiny bookworm heads to Washington D.C., where she has been invited to meet the Librarian of Congress.
