Who owns the Atlanta Braves?

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

We have been talking about the Braves and Suntrust Park for months--and in talking to Braves fans we learned not many could name the owners.

It was 1997 when the Atlanta Braves moved into the former Olympic Stadium, which hosted the memorable opening and closing ceremonies for the 1996 summer games.

The Olympics paid for the stadium, and to this day it's often considered the greatest deal any city has ever made.

It was later renamed to Turner Field--in honor of team owner Ted Turner.

Current LA Dodgers owner and general manager Stan Kasten was the team president between 1987 and 2003. (The Braves experienced division dominance--winning more games and hosting the World Series--than any other team during the same period.)

Today, Liberty Media Corporation in Englewood, Colorado has total ownership of the Braves.

Former Braves player Chipper Jones said in his 19 year career with the team he remembers when Liberty Media took over.

He said the new design, which is a roughly $1.1 billion investment, could be a home run that the owners made for the team.
