Atlanta mayoral candidates attend Earth Day town hall

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A group will hold a forum on Saturday to pick the brains of the people running for the top executive spot in Atlanta on issues regarding the earth. 

Officials said all candidates except one have confirmed their intent to attend the event, which will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the King Center in on Auburn Avenue in Downtown Atlanta.

“With locally rooted equity and environmental justice concerns here at home coupled with rapidly growing national alarm and global urgency, there is not a better time to have this discussion,” said Nathaniel Smith, who chief equity officer for Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE) and the moderator of the town hall.

The PSE says their event is the first of its kind to focus on inequity and environmental justice, challenges that continue to arise at Atlanta grows.
