Incoming UGA football recruit jailed on battery, trespassing charges

ATHENS, GA (CBS46) -

Georgia football recruit D'Antne Demery remains jailed in Athens-Clarke County Sunday after he was arrested for allegedly choking and shoving the mother of his one month old child.

Demery, an offensive lineman from Brunswick, Ga., was arrested Saturday night. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department that said the incident happened near a Waffle House restaurant. 

According to a summary of a police report obtained by CBS46 News, Demery allegedly grabbed the woman by the back of her neck and pushed her into a wall, causing her glasses to fall off and the screen on her cell phone to crack.

He was later arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple battery along with criminal trespass and held on $1,500 bond.

As of 12 p.m. Sunday, Demery remained in jail.

Demery was listed as a 4-Star recruit.
