VILLA RICA, GA (CBS46) -

A College Park police officer charged with statutory rape has resigned from the department.

The Villa Rica Police Department says they started investigating a report of statutory rape involving two 15-year-old females and several adult men on April 2.

The victims contacted the adult men on internet dating sites, falsely identifying themselves as adults, according to a spokesperson with Villa Rica police.

Police say one of the men identified in the incident was 25-year-old David S. Block, who was a College Park police officer. While College Park police confirms that Block resigned, they did not comment on whether they knew about the charges he was facing prior to his resignation.

Block allegedly picked up one of the teenagers from her neighborhood and took her to a hotel in Villa Rica, according to authorities.

Block was arrested on April 14 and charged with statutory rape, sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Villa Rica police says they're still trying to identify the other men involved in the incident.
