WOODSTOCK, GA (CBS46) -

Students at Woodstock High School received a lesson on the dangers of distracted driving during a simulation held at the school on Saturday.

Officials at the school simulated a traffic crash to help highlight the dangers of distracted driving. The scenario presented a driver on the way to a Braves game who looked down to change the music on their phone.

When the driver looked up, it was too late to avoid a head-on collision.

Students like Scarlett Darby described what they took away from the simulation.

"That no one really is invincible and it could happen to anyone and even though you think that you're paying attention, something could happen in a split second without you even realizing it," said Darby.

One of the officers who was part of the demonstration said he was distressed by what he saw on the way to the exercise. He said he saw a student in front of him and one behind him that were texting and driving.
