MARIETTA, GA (CBS46) -

Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to leave the scene of a fatal crash in Marietta.

The incident occurred just after 11 p.m. on April 28 on South Cobb Drive and Cochran Road.

Police say the driver of a 2006 Toyota Corolla was "traveling east on Cochran Road at a high rate of speed." Meanwhile, the driver of a grey 2017 Toyota Sienna was traveling north on South Cobb Drive.

The Corolla entered into the path of the Sienna, according to authorities, causing the crash.

Police say a backseat passenger of the Corolla, later identified as 31-year-old Thomas Durham, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Durham was from Antioch, Tennessee, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, police say the driver of the Corolla, 48-year-old Maurice Carson, and an additional passenger, 24-year-old Trevonn Blacknall, tried to flee the scene of the crash but were later caught by police.

Carson was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injures and charged with felony homicide by vehicle; felony fleeing and attempting to elude; felony hit-and-run; reckless driving and driving without a license. Carson, of Smyrna, was later taken to jail.

Blacknall, of Marietta, was also taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injures, but authorities.

The driver of the Sienna, 39-year-old Nadia Infante, of Marietta, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
