Police expecting to press charges in fatal Marietta-area crash

MARIETTA, GA (CBS46) -

Cobb County Police are investigating a crash that left a man dead in Marietta.  

Police said they are expecting to press charges after a driver slammed their vehicle into a disabled car that two men were trying to push out of the northbound lanes of Johnson Ferry Rd. near Hampton Farms Dr.

Bruce Meacham of Marietta, Georgia, the driver of the Mazda 3 that struck the back of the Dodge Magnum that Robert Matthews, Jr. of Phenix City, Ala. and Kevin Fullerton of Sandy Springs were pushing. 

Fullerton was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries, but Matthews died on the scene GDOT said.

Gwendolyn Matthews of Phenix City, Alabama was steering the vehicle as the two men pushed it, she was not injured.

While this collision remains under investigation, charges are expected to be filed, police in Cobb County said. Anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
