ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Charles Drew Charter School will hold its first graduation since its creation in 2000 as the city of Atlanta's first public charter school.

The class of 2017, made up of 82 students, will complete the cradle-to-college pipeline in the East Lake community.

The school will honor the senior class by recognizing student's academic and athletic achievements over the course of three events in May.

Those events will include an awards day, decision day, and the school graduation.

Governor Nathan Deal, Former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Atlanta Public Schools’ Superintendent Meria Carstarphen and Tom Cousins are expected to be in attendance.
