Registered nurse accused of sexually assaulting patients granted bond

A registered nurse currently jailed after he allegedly sexually assaulted patients while they were under anesthesia could be released soon.

Sandy Springs Police arrested Michael Morgan on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of custodial sexual assault. A judge granted him a $20,000 bond.

Morgan, 33, was a nurse at Northern Crescent Endoscopy at the time of the alleged assaults. Police said he has since resigned. 

Police say the assaults took place between February and April of 2017. They are aware of two female victims.

According to the police report, two pastors alerted police to the alleged crimes.They told police they were given information that Morgan had sexually assaulted women while they were under anesthesia. The police report states "both pastors were being careful as to explain how they came about this information."

The following is a statement from the medical office where Morgan worked:

It has come to our attention that a former employee of Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates is involved in an investigation. We take patient safety very seriously and are shocked and concerned about this allegation. We conduct background checks as part of our hiring process and have procedures in place to maintain a safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation and cannot provide any additional information.
