The temperature in Atlanta reached 90 degrees for the first time Tuesday in more than seven months.

The high Tuesday was 90 degrees at 3:30 p.m, which was just a degree shy of a record. The last time Atlanta reached 90 prior to Tuesday was September 25 when the temperature was 92 degrees.

We're ahead of schedule.

Atlanta typically sees its first 90 degree day on June 1. In fact, this is the earliest we've seen 90 degrees in Atlanta since 1996 when the first 90-degree-day was on May 6.

The earliest 90-degree-day on record in Atlanta was April 23, 1980.

The normal high for this time of year is 80 degrees, which makes Tuesday's high about 10 degrees above average.
