GORDON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Two teenage robbery suspects got more than they bargained for when they attempted to rob a Gordon County home Wednesday night.

According to the Gordon County Sheriff's Office, the two suspects entered the home in Pine Chapel around 8:15 p.m. armed with bricks and a baseball bat and attempted to rob a husband and wife as they were sitting down for dinner.

One of the suspects, identified as 17 year-old Alex Alcantar, hit the husband with a brick but he was still able to wrestle a baseball bat away from them and used it to defend himself and his wife.

The family dog was struck by the baseball bat as it attempted to defend its owners.

Police were called and when they arrived on scene, Alcantar was lying on the floor of the home after being knocked out. The other suspect, identified as 17 year-old Dustin Eugene Freeman, ran into the woods and was later apprehended by officers.

Alcantar was taken to an area hospital where his condition is unknown. Freeman was taken to the Gordon County Jail.

Both are charged with Home Invasion, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Cruelty to Animals.
