Political sign vandals caught on camera

DORAVILLE, GA (CBS46) -

Jessica Killingsworth could not believe it when her home surveillance camera in Doraville captured a woman pulling up a political sign in her front yard and trashing it.

“I was dumbfounded that somebody would be coming on to our property and messing with our things,” Killingsworth said.  “I was completely furious and I was upset and disappointed and I really wanted to know why? Why am I being a target with this person.”

Video shows the same woman doing the same thing at the same home about a half a dozen times during the past seven months.

“I would notice the sign would be knocked down, the sign would be gone, the sign would be ripped in half on certain times,” Killingsworth said.

Neighbor Tom Hart encountered the same problem with his political sign.

“We kept on seeing the same person over and over again,” Hart said.  “I guess when they were stomping on it, it ripped it in half.

He said it all began last year during the presidential election.

“Apparently, she didn’t like our candidates,” Hart said.

Last Saturday night, Doraville Police arrested 30-year old Serena Terry and charged her with criminal trespassing in connection with the case.

“This has been an ongoing thing with her almost bullying us, coming on our property and almost trying to intimidate us,” Killingsworth said.

Killingsworth said Terry isn’t the only one involved.  Video shows others doing the same thing and getting away with it.

Terry’s motivation is unclear, CBS46 has learned she’s from Covington and has voted in at least two Newton County Republican primaries despite being accused of tampering with several political signs belonging to Republican candidates.
