Atlanta artist moves on to next round of Hard Rock's global band competition

Posted: Updated:

Four Atlanta bands hit the stage at Hard Rock Cafe Atlanta's Velvet Underground on Thursday, May 25 to compete in the local round of Hard Rock Rising, the worlds largest battle of the bands.

At the end of the night, a panel of media judges selected local singer Alexandrea Lushington as the winner of the Atlanta competition.

Local music artists and music acts performed Thursday night at more than 125 Hard Rock Cafe, Hotel and Casino locations across the globe.

In Atlanta, Andrea competed against three local bands including Revel in Romance, Elder Sun and Bishop Lake.

Taking home the local winning title, Andrea will now move on to be evaluated by an expert panel of international artists and music industry professionals.

They will narrow the local winners down to four regional finalists and one global prize winner, who will take home a Fender instruments prize pack and a 1,000 CD/DVD pack of the artists latest recording or video from Bison Disc.

In addition, the grand prize winner will perform during halftime at Hard Rock Stadium and get a chance to create a professionally-produced music video that will be added to Hard Rock's world-wide video system.

Alexandrea Lushington, who has been building her independent career, working with indie artists of Atlanta as a performer and songwriter, is an Atlanta native with more than 15 years of performing and recording experience in the music industry.

For over a decade, Alexandrea was a requested National anthem singer for the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, The City of Atlanta, WNBA, and countless organizations including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC).

Since 2009, Alexandrea was a featured artist on Volumes 1 & 2 of SMKA's The 808 Experiment and the Stargazing Tour in 2010.
