ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The school year is officially over for students and educators with Atlanta Public Schools, and many of those teachers will not be returning for the 2018-2019 school year.

One hundred and fifty-three retirees were honored at the Silver Star Retirement Luncheon Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Downtown.

This year's retiree class has collectively given a total of 3,740 years of service, with 39 retiring with more than 30 years of service and seven having more than 40 years of service.

Rosie McCoy, Career Technical Agricultural Education teacher at West End Academy, received a special honor for serving APS students for 46 years. All retirees received a commemorative gift to mark the occasion.
