Mercedes-Benz Stadium talks traffic plans

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The new Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a sight to see. People living around it knows that will bring in a lot more people to their area.

"It's probably going to be real congested with the new stadium a lot of folks want to come in and see what it looks like," neighbor Mike Menefee said.

The new stadium sits right next to the old one. People will use the same roads to get here. But still officials have been working on traffic solutions the past three years.

"We started counter flowing Martin Luther King," Sr. VP of Fan Experience for AMB Sports Entertainment Mike Gomes said.

"We changed some of the accessibility of Ivan Allen to take some pressure off the connector to get people up to I-75.  We've done the deal with Uber and we've done the deal with WAZE."

Something drivers will see is new signage helping direct people through the neighborhoods.

"That's from the highway, to the city streets to the local Georgia World Congress Center campus to get you to all the key parking areas, parking decks, parking lots will be new and it's something that's been deficient," Gomes said.

But neighbors aren't so sure anything will truly help the traffic.

"Like I said probably get worse," neighbor Freddy Warner said.
