New Superintendent hired for Clayton County Schools

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Clayton County Public School will have a new Superintendent for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Clayton County Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted Dr. Morcease J. Beasley to serve as the next Superintendent of Schools.

"We are excited with the selection of Dr. Morcease Beasley as the next Superintendent of Schools for Clayton County,” said Dr. Pam Adamson, Chairperson of the Clayton County Board of Education. “The people of Clayton County should be confident that their Board of Education did a proper job of completing an extensive national search for a candidate to fill the position of Superintendent. The public made known that it wanted someone with exceptional leadership traits. We sought someone who had the capacity of raising and maintaining the academic success of our students, while lifting the morale of our employees and we believe we have found that person,” she continued. 

Beasley more recently served as the district;s Chief School Improvement Officer.

“I am honored and humbled for the opportunity to serve as the next Superintendent of Clayton County Public Schools,” said Dr. Morcease Beasley. “My commitment is to work strategically and collaboratively with our community to ensure our students are provided the best educational experience that will propel them to higher performance which will result in a higher quality of life with a plethora of opportunities for college and career,” he stated. 

Beasley holds a Doctorate degree in Education from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and has a distinguished 23 year record of service to school districts in Texas, Alabama and Georgia. 

He will begin his term July 1, 2017.
