ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Atlanta sports fans are just weeks away from experiencing a one-of-a kind stadium in downtown Atlanta.

“This stadium is opening with a bang,” stadium executive Mike Egan said. “This building will be as safe as any building in America.”

Building executives guaranteed a fully functioning Mercedes Benz Stadium by August 26 when the Atlanta Falcons host their first preseason football game.

“Within a few days the roof will be closed and we will be able to complete the final surveys and measurements we need to,” Egan said.

Officials ruled out any problems with the stadium’s new state-of-the-art retractable roof, which had initially contributed to construction delays.

And as far as reports of the stadium possibly sinking in areas, officials said it’s simply not true.

“They drilled down to the bedrock with enormous holes, they filled those holes with concrete and built this stadium on top of this. This stadium is not sinking one inch; it is not going anywhere,” Egan said. “We have the three top structural engineering firms in the world working on this project.”

Stadium executives said with 2,000 workers working around the clock the fan experience is sure to be one of a kind.

“If it costs you $7 for a great pulled pork sandwich at Fox Bros. it’s $7 in the stadium. Nobody does that,” fan experience executive Mike Gomes said.

In addition, fans will experience more bars and bathrooms than ever before. Plus, you will be able to enjoy free refills on soft drinks.

Mercedes Benz Stadium will open to the public in 87 days.
