ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Police released video Friday that they believe shows the shooter and the getaway car in Thursday night's murder outside a Kroger in Buckhead.

The shooting happened at around 10:40 p.m. at the store on Piedmont Road near Peachtree Road. The store is known in the community as the "Disco Kroger" because of the disco ball that hangs over the entrance as a reminder of the nightclub that once occupied a nearby building.

When police arrived, they found a man, identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office as 45-year-old Derrick Dukes, in the parking lot with several gunshot wounds. Medics transported the man to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses told police they saw the shooter leave the scene heading northbound on Piedmont Road in a small, blue vehicle that had a tag on the front bumper. Its make and model were unknown.

At the scene, investigators took several photos of a red Mercedes-Benz that apparently had some evidence on it, possibly fingerprints or blood.

"We had lot of folks around the parking lot that were kind of looking on," APD Homicide Lieutenant Ricardo Vazquez said at the scene, "and we feel like there's some witnesses out there that obviously are not here now that we really need to talk to to try to figure out what happened."

Soon afterward, detectives were able to piece together information that Dukes arrived at the Kroger as a passenger of the red Mercedes. A woman was driving, police said. The pair appeared to meet up with the occupants of the blue car. There was a struggle, and one of the occupants of the blue car pulled out a gun and shot Dukes, police said.

The woman disappeared after the shooting, said Vazquez. Detectives are trying to determine her identity and what, if any, part she might have played in the killing.

Friday morning, Vazquez showed reporters a video detectives obtained, declining to release its origin. It shows a man in a white tank top who detectives believe was the shooter. The video also shows a grainy image of Dukes' female acquaintance -- the woman who disappeared after the shooting.

Police are asking witnesses of the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477. There's a $2,000 reward in the case. Callers may remain anonymous.
