ATLANTA (CBS46) -

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions spoke at a law enforcement forum in Atlanta Tuesday morning.

Sessions was joined by the US Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia and the deputy director of the GBI at the National Law Enforcement Training on Child Exploitation at the Sheraton in downtown Atlanta.

Law enforcement and prosecutors from all over the country are participating in the three day conference to learn more about tackling child exploitation, specifically technology-facilitated crimes.

"By all accounts the scourge of child exploitation is getting worse," Sessions told the crowd. "Investigations and prosecutions of child exploitation are increasing while the victims are getting even younger.”

He praised the men and women for their difficult work and pledged his support.

"You see wickedness that nobody should have to see and suffering and cruelty that few can imagine," Sessions said.

"Crimes against children are some of the worst in our country. All of our citizens deserve to live free from the threat of harm, especially young people.”

Sessions' visit comes amid a rift with President Donald Trump, who sent a series of tweets early Monday morning blaming the Justice Department for its defense of the travel ban. The tweets accuse the department of submitting a "politically correct" version of the ban.

Sessions and the Justice Department did not respond to the president's tweets.
