DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

On Tuesday June 6, 2017 a DeKalb county resident found a dog buried alive up to her nose.

The incident was near an ATV trail near Rock Mountain Boulevard and Lewis Road in Tucker, Georgia. The man removed the dog from the tightly packed dirt and ruched her to the hospital. The breed is a brown chow mix and her rescuer named her Lulu.

"Someone tortured this dog by packing her in dirt, where she couldn't move, drink, or escape the terror of being buried alive," says PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien. "PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately so that whoever buried this dog can be held responsible and stopped from hurting anyone else."

According to PETA, Lulu had been buried  for three days and law-enforcement officials are still investigating to find out who did this.
