CONCORD, GA (CBS46) -

After more than seven decades, a family is finally getting closure.

The body of a second World War veteran was laid to rest Sunday. This comes after his remains were missing since the 1940's.

Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the life of Lt. Robert Oxford. Oxford was a U.S. Army Corps bombardier who died in a plane crash while fighting in World War II.

Oxford's remains were discovered a few years ago in the Himalayan Mountains. Sunday, they were buried back in his hometown cemetery in Concord.
