CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A crash involving a tractor trailer and another vehicle forced the closure of SB I-75 near Highway 92 in Cherokee County but the roadway has since fully reopened.

Police say a 2014 Hyundai Elantra was traveling south on I-75 at mile marker 276 and crashed into the rear end of a tractor trailer that was parked alongside the roadway.

The driver of the Elantra, identified as 60 year-old Denise Hopson of Cartersville, was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Kennestone Hospital where her condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the tractor trailer, 58 year-old Colman Prendergast, was uninjured.

The crash caused a huge backup and traffic was diverted off of I-75 south and onto Highway 92.

Charges are pending.
