(MEREDITH) -- A pair of Florida men were arrested after police said they tried to steal a power utility pole.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office shared a photo on Wednesday of two shirtless men in handcuffs sitting on the curb with a utility pole strapped to the top of their SUV.

The sheriff's office said deputies arrested the men after someone called 911 to report the bizarre sighting.

"These two were caught stealing a JEA pole just this morning! Citizens watching out and officers cleaning up = partnership! #HurricaneIrma," the department wrote.

The incident comes as the state recovers from the brutal winds and rain Irma unleashed that left millions of Floridians without power.

The Florida Times-Union reports the suspects -- identified as 42-year-old  Blake Lee Waller and 46-year-old Victor Walter Apeler -- were both charged with grand theft.

Jacksonville Electric Authority officials later retrieved the 30-foot utility pole, valued at $2,500.
