GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Gwinnett County man and woman created an elaborate airline ticket and internet scam that cost one woman nearly $2,000 and ultimately led to their arrest in Snellville.

Tiesha Dunbar and Nicholas Gates were arrested during a sting operation set up by the victim and South Precinct. A third person involved in the scheme, Natiya Pope, is at large.

The three perpetrators are charged with felony theft by deception, but the number of charges may increase.

“This case and subsequent arrests would not be possible without the bravery, persistence, and determination of the victim who decided to turn the tables on the perpetrators,” says the lead investigator.

The victim responded to a Craigslist advertisement to purchase Delta Airlines tickets and a Comcast internet box.

After paying approximately $1,650 to the perpetrators, the victim discovered neither the tickets or Internet box were real.
