(WKBN/CNN) – An Ohio school has banned students from carrying backpacks after the Parkland, Florida school shooting.

The school board at Niles McKinley High School announced the decision on Friday, saying it was a way to help students feel safe. However, they will still be able to carry small purses and lunch boxes.

“It’s just crazy all this stuff happening,” said Matthew Price, a sophomore. “I don’t’ even want to think about it. It’s just kind of, it’s sickening really.”

This isn’t the first time Niles McKinley High School has banned backpacks. They were also banned during a bomb threat last year.

One of the major concerns is how the lack of a backpack may cause students to take longer between classes or when they're rushing to catch the bus. WKBN said that school officials have talked with teachers and bus drivers and both are giving students extra time in the hallways.

What do you think?

I think banning backpacks is a great idea!
This won't fix anything and is too extreme.
I'm not sure how I feel about this.
