STOCKBRIDGE, GA (CBS46) -

An area known as Eagle's Landing wants to become it's own city, but many who don't want to see that happen spoke up Tuesday at the capitol.

A crowd of people opposing Senate Bill 263 chanted and held signs outside of the Georgia State Capitol. They want house members to vote it down and keep Stockbridge whole.

Folks opposing the bill fear by making Eagle's Landing it's own city will effect the city's tax base and raise property taxes.

Those in favor of the bill say they want to build parks and senior citizen centers as well as provide better police protection.

The bill is on the House calendar. There is no time frame for when it may come up for discussion and a vote.
