BARTOW COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

The driver of a pickup truck is recovering after he suffered minor injuries when his vehicle crashed into a massive sinkhole in Bartow County.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident on a closed section of Tanyard Creek Road in unincorporated Acworth.

The driver, identified as 49-year-old Patrick Stewart Oldknow, told troopers he did not see the three barricades while traveling from Glade Road but he later admitted he saw the last barricade. He says he drove around it.

Oldknow was charged with failure to obey traffic-control devices.

Bartow County officials have said it will take weeks to repair the roadway.
