ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Organizers are expecting as many as 30,000 people to take part in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March for Humanity in Downtown Atlanta on Monday.

The event, which begins at 12 p.m., will start at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Jackson Street and will end with a rally at the State Capitol.

Monday marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s funeral.

A church service began at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, and that will be followed by the march and then rally at the Capitol. Governor Nathan Deal will be part of the ceremony. Governor Deal has also ordered flags to fly at half staff on Monday.

The event is free and open to the public.
