ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A memorial service was held Saturday morning for Timothy Cunningham, the CDC researcher whose body was found in the Chattahoochee River on April 4.

Cunningham had been missing for several weeks before his body was found. He left work sick on February 12 and was not seen again. Cunningham was an epidemiologist working in the Centers For Disease Control's chronic disease unit.

The service began at 10 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta. Cunningham was a 2004 graduate of the institution.

Donations may be made to Morehouse in Cunningham's name or to the Homeless Ministry at Atlanta's First United Methodist Church.
