For more than a year a female child was subjected to being raped repeatedly by a family friend who will now spend the remainder of his life in prison.

Charles Harris was accused of repeatedly raping a 7-year-old who he babysat between December 1, 2015 and March 9, 2016.

Harris watched the young child and her sister while their mother worked an overnight shift.

The victim testified telling the court that Harris would enter her room at night while she slept and pin her down and rape her. Some of the assaults took place in the living room and the mother's room.

A May 6, 2016 forensic exam confirmed the rape and molestation of the little girl.

The child also testified that "she would pray that he would stoop. She would cry silently because she didn't want to wake her sister (who was in the same room). She was concerned Harris might rape her sister too," said Assistant District Attorney Shaniqua Christian.

The jury deliberated for 25 minutes before unanimously deciding Harris was guilty of rape, child molestation and false imprisonment. He will not be eligible for parole.

In 1998 Harris plead guilty to child molestation in similar Cobb County case.
