Four sentenced in tax return scheme

Tax season is coming to a close as well as freedom for four people involved in tax scheme.

Sean West, 44, of Conyers was sentenced to 18 months of home confinement and ordered to pay $435,990 in restitution.

Curry Love, Jr., 51, of Lithonia was sentenced to one year and a day in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $435, 990.

Two other individuals involved, Darrell Palmes and Emory Harris, were previously sentenced for their roles in the tax refund scheme.

Authorities say four suspects used a scheme involving fake 1099s to claim fraudulent tax returns.

Harris, who served as the scheme's organizer, recruited taxpayers to file 1099 forms. Fictitious employers and hundreds of thousands of witholdings were listed on the the 1099s.

In total $2,688,591 was collected.
