COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Neil Blake says most days it's hard to get up in the morning, but she does it for her son David who has been missing since March 8.

"This has been the longest period of my life, seven weeks, just so worried about him. Every time it rains it's a nightmare for us," says Blake.

Cobb County officials called off their official search efforts near the end of March. That's when Blake's family hired a private investigating agency.

"We've pulled maps and miscellaneous information of where he might go, what trek he might be on, what his purpose is for leaving," says Licensed Investigator Tripp Mitchell.

They're putting up pictures of what David would look like now with facial hair.

"I think that you could look for somebody who is tall, somebody who has a little bit of facial hair, a little longer hair than the original poster. I think that you would see someone a little slender."

They're also trying to bring focus to this blue hiking backpack in case he may be hitchhiking.

"We have not located this backpack. He could be in possession of this backpack," say Mitchell.

Investigator Mitchell revealed that Cobb County K-9's tracked David's scent at the intersection of Stilesboro and Mossy Rock Roads in a patch of grass.

Mitchell says he isn't convinced David ever went hiking at all.

As Mother's Day approaches Neill says she's dreading the thought of spending it without her youngest son David, hoping she doesn't have to.

"We're not giving up hope. He's out there somewhere. I want to find him."

The family thanks the people who have donated to their GoFundMe which helped them get the investigator. The Cobb County search may be off, but their investigation is still open.
