ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Authorities are investigating after a Georgia State University officer working an off-duty security job at the Greyhound Station pepper-sprayed and shot a man.

According to police, the female officer asked a man, who was acting unstable and harassing patrons to leave. When the man, later identified as 38 year-old William Savalas Davis, refused to leave, there was an altercation and the officer pepper-sprayed him.

The officer says Davis attacked her and because she feared for her life, she shot at him. He was struck in the shoulder and forearm.

Davis was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is stable.
