Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons agree to 5-year extension

Matt Ryan has a new contract. 

The Atlanta Falcons and Ryan agreed on a new contract extension on Thursday for five years. While the terms of the contract haven't been officially announced, ESPN is reporting Ryan will receive $100 million guaranteed and will be the NFL's first $30 million a year quarterback. 

Ryan was drafted third overall in 2008 out of Boston College. In his time in Atlanta, he has passed for over 41,000 yards and holds the franchise record in nearly every major career passing category. 

Ryan won the 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player award, becoming the first player in franchise history to win the award.
