EAST POINT, GA (CBS46) -

A man was killed by police Sunday after breaking the officer's arm during a traffic stop in East Point.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. at an Exxon gas station on Camp Creek Parkway.

According to a spokesperson with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a sobriety test was being conducted on 32-year-old Terence Leslie when he started fighting with a College Park police officer.

The officer deployed his taser, but Leslie grabbed the taser and broke the officer's arm, according to the GBI spokesperson.

The officer fired multiple shots at Leslie, who was back in his vehicle and drove a short distance away, crashing into a nearby pole.

Leslie was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, the officer -- who has not been identified -- was also taken to the hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries.
