ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A major mixed use development crammed into west midtown could mean more traffic in Atlanta's westside.

The project is set to bring a building, similar to Ponce City Market, to a space that's been vacant for years.

Developer Jeff Garrison with S.J. Collins Enterprises says the space will include 100 thousand square feet of retail and restaurants, 200 thousand square feet of office space, a hotel, a gym, apartments and more.

He says the interlock will bring connectivity to a place that lacks walkability.

"If Howell Mill is backed up which it tends to do in the evening time people can come from Northside or come down 10th or 11th and find their way easily in the site," said Garrison. "All the people living there, working there and there's more room on the roads for the people."

You will also be able to drive through the development. There will be bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
