COLLEGE PARK, GA (CBS46) -

What sounds a little bit like paradise for some, is anything but at the world's busiest airport.

"I think it should be a priority, yeah," said Tommy Dodd, an airport Musician.

Tommy Dodd is a musician who performs for passengers in the atrium and admits business at the airport has recently hit a low note.

"When I go out to some of the concourses, A is the busiest and their businesses are pretty strong. But when I go to B and C, they're not quite as busy and consequently some of the businesses have vacated and those need to be brought back," said Dodd.

It's an observation shared by other travelers, including a family from Alabama.

"I would expect more," said Deborah Hubbert. "We brought my granddaughter to go to Brazil. And so we're waiting around and who wants to just sit.

"There's a lot of empty spaces that are not filled and I don't understand what good is empty space," said David Stovall.

It turns out the City of Atlanta put airport deals on hold prior to the election of a new mayor and contracts for new restaurants and shops have been delayed ever since.

"Business is about having businesses in place," said Stovall.

As it stands now, contracts for more than a dozen eateries and nearly 90 retail outlets are in limbo which means travelers can expect the same ole song and dance.

"It's unfortunate, I just hope they don't keep the contracts long enough that we lose some of the ones that are already here," said Dodd.
