Atlanta is preparing to host the Super Bowl in 2019 and nightlife advocates say they should benefit from all the visitors in town.

The Atlanta Nightlife Alliance wants city leaders to allow establishments to stay open and serve alcohol 24 hours a day during the week of the big game.

”People want to come and have a good time," said Je' Wesley Day, who started the group to form positive relationships between government officials, community members and the nightlife community.

"We can't close bars at 2 a.m. when you have thousands of people in your city, it would leave people very disappointed," he said.

"Think of Mardi Gras, we kind of want to provide that type of flavor so that people can really enjoy themselves but of course you have to have proper safety, that’s why we have to plan this out in advance," said Day.

Since it's early in the discussion stages, Day said they are open to compromise. For example, designating certain areas of the city 24 hours, like Edgewood Avenue or Buckhead Village. They're also open to discussing other extended hours, they are just hoping to be heard.

"We believe that we have the right to enjoy the fruits of having this big Super Bowl coming to town," said Cheryl Dominique, who owns several restaurants including Nancy's Chicago Pizza in Buckhead.

"The logistics are there already there, right? We have the different municipalities, the police officers that are out and we obviously are going to follow the rules and regulations of serving," said Dominique.
