Two drug drop-boxes installed in Clayton Co.

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Clayton County is offering residents a safe way to dispose of their unused, unwanted and expired medications.

Two “Medical Disposal” drug drop-boxes have been provided to Clayton County by CVS Pharmacy as a result of their affiliation with the Partnership for Drug-Free-Kids organization. One of the disposal boxes is located in the lobby of the Clayton County Police Department on North McDonough Street. The other disposal box has been placed in the lobby of the Harold R. Banke Justice Complex on Tara Boulevard.

Below is a list of items that can be discarded in the medical disposal:

  • Prescription drugs

  • Over the counter medications 

  • Vitamins

  • Sample medications

  • Pet medications

  • Prescription Patches

Certain items may not be placed in the boxes.  Items that we CANNOT accept include:  

  • Needles 
  • Oxygen tanks
  • Nebulizers 
  • Batteries 
  • Radioactive cancer medication 
  • Mercury thermometers 
  • Liquids 
  • Inhalers 
  • Aerosol medications 3 

 Removing labels is optional if citizens wish to remain anonymous.
