ATLANTA (CBS46) -

For the first time in years, developers discussed plans for a major makeover at one of Atlanta's worst eyesores.

Peacock Partnership met with potential contractors at the old Presidential Hotel Monday after officially purchasing the property less than two weeks ago. It's certainly a sight for sore eyes.

Renderings show a complete renovation of the old tower, as well as construction of a new 12-story building next to it.

Plus, fine dining, a retail marketplace, upscale spa and state-of-the-art fitness center.

"Finally we're turning this piece of property into something viable," said Commissioner Jester's Chief of Staff Mike Davis.

Daivs had plenty to say about it when CBS46 first reported plans for redevelopment in January.

He's chief-of-staff for DeKalb County Commissioner Nancy Jester and the property lies in their district.

Obviously, he's thrilled that the $70 million project will create 400 new senior housing units and become one of the largest senior communities in the metro area.

"It's a huge win for the county. Finally, this eyesore is going to be turned into something and I think this entire area will turn around."

Construction will begin later this year and be complete in 18 months.
