ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Two homes were damaged when a garbage truck crashed into them Wednesday afternoon in southwest Atlanta.

Sources say the two homes are located on the 4000 block of Kimball Road SW.

A family member says two children, a father and grandmother were home at the time of the incident. Thaddius Hodges, who was inside the home at the time of the crash, tells CBS46 what happened.

"I was just like ducking and seeing what was going on. In my head, I just thought some people were shooting. I didn't know what to do, really," said Hodges.

The grandmother was transported to an area hospital with injuries to her foot and head.

The crew on the truck says the emergency brake was engaged but something went wrong. A Public Works Department spokesperson says it appears proper procedure was followed with the truck but there will be an investigation.
