GWINNETT COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

The Gwinnett County Police Homicide Unit have charged a 21-year-old man in the death of 19-year-old Silling Man, the former Georgia State University student found dead in the Gwinnett Place Mall on Dec. 21, 2017.

GCPD detectives have charged 21-year-old Emmett Davis with aggravated assault and felony murder. Davis was Man’s boyfriend at the time of the murder.

Detectives believe Davis and Man were living together in hotels near the Gwinnett Place Mall during the period her family reported her missing. Police said Davis left the state following the murder, but learned he recently returned and was living in Lawrenceville.

Detectives obtained warrants for Davis and a search warrant for his house on Thursday. Davis was taken into custody without incident.

Man’s death was not initially ruled a homicide early on in the investigation, but in March 2018, the Medical Examiner’s Officer classified her death as a homicide.
