CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A serial rapist is on the loose in Metro Atlanta.

The Clayton County Police Department is working to identify a man who has been linked through DNA evidence to five rapes that occurred between 2015 and 2017 in Clayton county.

Detectives were working the cases separately until evidence returned from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations confirmed that the suspect in the cases were the same man.

The MO in each case did not lead detectives to believe the cases were linked because the suspect did not utilize the same methodology to gain entry or intimidate victims.

The MO for each case included:

  • Gained entry through an unsecured or open window
  • Accosted a victim outside as she was walking to her apartment
  • Forced his way into an apartment when a victim opened the door slightly after he knocked and asked for an unknown female
  • Suspect brandished a knife in one case and a gun in one case.

In all but one of the cases, the suspect sought out black women who lived in apartment complexes and town homes. One rape occurred at a single-family home.

The general location of the rapes were: Chaselake Drive, Roberts Drive, Southlake Cove Court, Brookview Drive and Wynfield Drive.

Two victims were able to provide a description for a sketch. The Clayton County Police Department is asking for citizens to remain alert and make sure their homes are secured. Anyone with information on any of these cases are asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 404-577-8477.
