TUCKER, GA (CBS46) -

A standoff at a DeKalb County hotel has come to an end after police took a robbery suspect that had holed himself up inside a room at the hotel into custody.

The standoff, which lasted about four hours, unfolded at the Knights Inn location on the 2900 block of Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker.

Guests at the motel were evacuated for several hours and are now being allowed to return to their rooms.

DeKalb County PIO Shiera Campbell tells CBS46 News that the standoff began around 3 a.m. as a result of a robbery at the Waffle House location nearby. Campbell says one man was earlier taken into custody in connection to the robbery but that man was cleared of any charges.

Lawrenceville Highway was completely shut down in both directions but has since reopened.
