Human remains found on property in Alpharetta

Posted: Updated:

Human remains were found on a property in Alpharetta, according to a spokesperson with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Several law enforcement agencies were called to the residence for a "sensitive investigation," according to the sheriff's office.

A witness tells CBS46 that police officers, the fire department, and a dive team have been seen at the home in the 2100 block of Purcell Lane for three days.

The witness, who lives in the neighborhood, says a prominent Atlanta attorney lives at the residence.

CBS46 reporter Jasmina Alston says the human remains were found in a wooded area in the back of the home, adding that deputies have been at the location since Thursday because it's such a large property.

Alston adds that deputies are expected to wrap up their work at the home Saturday.

The police spokesperson says the remains have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for identification.
