ATLANTA (CBS46) -

Severe storms left behind storm damage east of Atlanta Wednesday as they raced northeastward prior to sunset.

Damage was reported in Social Circle, where an emergency manager believes a tornado touched down, although whether or not a tornado actually occurred has yet to be confirmed by the National Weather Service.

The first tornado warning was issued for Morgan, Newton and Walton counties at 7:42 p.m., which was followed by a tornado warning for Clarke, Jackson, Madison and Oconee counties at 8:29 p.m., and another tornado warning for Clarke, Madison and Oglethrope counties at 9:32 p.m.

CBS46 was on the air and online throughout the duration of the tornado warnings.

The storms developed in a moist, tropical airmass that's mostly been responsible for flooding across the region.

More rain is expected in north Georgia through the remainder of the week.
