COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Voter registration drives were scheduled in many areas over the weekend but there was one bid problem, the Secretary of State's voter registration database wasn't available.

Stacy Efrat is a wife, mom, and has a full-time job but she was also determined to get people to register to vote Saturday.  That was until the Secretary of State’s office voter registration database, my voter page - was down – for “routine maintenance” until Sunday at 6 a.m.

"I was looking at Facebook in the morning and I saw that someone posted that the website was down," said Efrat.

CBS46's Giovanna Drpic asked Efrat if she though it was intentional, coincidental or bad luck?

"It can be any of those things," continued Efrat. "Part of the problem is that we have a candidate that is supervising his own election. When something like this happens, it just looks suspicious."

Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s communications director for his campaign for governor Ryan Mahoney says “It is ironic that the same people who complain about the security of Georgia elections are complaining about site upgrades that keep our systems secure."

Stacy Efrat was out here at a National Night Out event with others, on Sunday.  Cobb County republicans were also there but their strategy with potential voters was different.

And at the end of this event, Efrat said they registered 8 people, including Jacquelyn Dingle.

"In order for us to get good services, we have to be part of the election," said Dingle.

You still have until October 9 to register for November’s general election.
