(Meredith) – An upcoming concert in Florida will be charging vaccinated fans just $18 per ticket, but unvaccinated fans will be charged nearly $1,000 per ticket.

The June 26 concert will take place at the VFW Post 39 venue in St. Petersburg, featuring three punk rock bands – Teenage Bottlerocket, MakeWar and Rutterkin.

Concert promoter Paul Williams of Leadfoot Promotions in Tampa Bay came up with the idea as an incentive for people to get vaccinated.

Teenage Bottlerocket

Ray Carlisle of Teenage Bottlerocket performs onstage at Old National Centre on September 18, 2012 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“I wanted to get the kids that want to go to shows to go out and get their shots,” Williams told ABC News.

About 250 tickets are on sale for $18, but just four $1,000 tickets for unvaccinated fans are for sale.

Williams said he isn’t denying entry to unvaccinated fans, telling ABC News, “You can buy a full-price ticket and you'll be treated like everyone else.”

Teenage Bottlerocket singer and guitar player Ray Carlisle told WFTS that the band is vaccinated and is “encouraging everyone to get vaccinated so we can see you in the pit.”

Williams said the response to the unique ticket sale idea is “overwhelmingly positive” but he has received several negative comments from people who have obtained his phone number and are now harassing him with spam messages.
