ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) -- Better Call Harry is getting results with the largest single unemployment payout since he started helping people with their claims more than six months ago.
"Yay! It’s like Christmas. You just don’t know the burden that’s been taken off of us."
Ed and Susan Ringl just received a direct deposit from Georgia's Department of Labor. It's an amount they never dreamed of. Benefits totaling $30,000.
"You know what?" said Ed Ringl. "We’re good, don’t have to eat pork and beans and baloney."
Ed is a Vietnam veteran who met Susan after the war on a military base in Germany.
After they married, the Ringls became contract workers for venues such as the Georgia World Congress Center. They do setups for the boat show and the car show. But since March 14th, it's been a no-show. Not just on events. Their unemployment benefits started and then stopped.
Better Call Harry connected the Ringls with a GDOL specialist, and things started to happen. But it would take nearly a month before their claim would be resolved.
The Ringls are praying that conventions make a comeback in the spring. Until then, they're good.
